FIRST LOOK: Dog Eat Dog & Scene Study
Join Us for September’s First Look Double Feature! Both of these artists have been apart of our events in the past and it’s a pleasure to welcome Dog Eat Dog back for its first look run and Dante for his Studio directing debut.
Dog Eat Dog by Kyle Mazer
Two dogs in a vet’s office — one spoiled, one scrappy — arguing over what makes life worth living. Hint: it ain’t the organic kibble.
Kyle Mazer is a playwright, poet, composer and producer, eager to keep bringing theater to Red Hook. He graduated from Yale University where he studied playwriting under Donald Margulies and was award the T. Whitney Blake Prize for excellence in English, Music and Community Building. His productions include “ORCA: A One-Whale Musical” (The Waterfront Museum) “STALLED” (Spark Theater Festival, Chance Theater), “The S.S. Cancelled” (Winner of New York Theater Festival), The Woman in Green (938Collective, Gene Frankel Theater), Cricket, Cricket (Dixon Place), The Ground on Which We Stand (Luna Stages) and RUSTY UTOPIA: A Variety Show Responding to Change (Andrew Logan Projects). He is the youngest member on the New York Theater Barn’s Board of Directors and deeply devoted to all critters.
Scene Study by Dante Billups
It’s an acting class from hell — two friends, one self-anointed guru, and a masterclass in bullshit, ego, and desperation .
Dante Billups is a senior in NYU’s BFA drama program. He is thankful to the Green Lung team for the opportunity to present this piece. He likes to play video games and eat pizza in his free time.
