LIVE OSCILLATIONS WITH LUCIA STAVROS + CAROLINE DAVIS + MARY LYN GRAVES

Mobile since her birth in Singapore, Caroline Davis’ music covers a wide range of styles, owed to her constantly shifting environment as a child. Her albums include Live Work & Play (2012), Doors: Chicago Storylines (2015), Maitri’s Afterglow (2017) Heart Tonic (2018), Alula (2019), and Persona’s Anthems (2019). She won the Downbeat Critic's Poll “Rising Star” in 2018. Davis has worked with Lee Konitz, Angelica Sanchez, The Femme Jam, Matt Mitchell, Terry Riley, Miles Okazaki, Thana Alexa, and Billy Kaye. In 2019, Davis was a composer-in-residence at the esteemed MacDowell Colony and awarded the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship. Her compositional practice integrates the cognitive sciences with an emphasis on healing, influenced by her Ph.D in Music Cognition. Davis is an advocate for social justice in the realm of gender (developed in a co-taught Jazz & Gender course at The New School) as well as in the abolitionist movement.

Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary Lyn Graves is a dancer and teacher. She has most recently performed with Megan Williams Dance Projects, Chandler Dance Initiative, and NOW-ID/Charlotte Boye Christensen. From 2012-2018, Mary Lyn was a member of  Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, touring throughout the United States and France as well as to Mongolia and South Korea as part of DanceMotionUSA.  Over her six seasons with RWDC, Mary Lyn originated over 25 roles in works by Daniel Charon, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Ann Carlson, Raja Feather Kelley, Joanna Kotze, Doug Varone, Kate Weare, and Netta Yerushalmy, among others.  Mary Lyn has also performed the historic works of Alwin Nikolais. From 2016-2017, worked extensively with Molly Heller to develop, perform, and tour Molly’s work very vary. Mary Lyn has been a guest artist at numerous festivals, schools, and studios and has facilitated creative movement classes in schools, community centers, youth shelters, and arts conservatories with an emphasis on working with elementary age children.

Lucia Stavros is a New York-based harpist, singer, songwriter, and producer. Lucia performs and records with experimental group Ghost Ensemble, and indie band Green and Glass. She is recording a solo studio album under project name loosh.
