A film unlike anything to come out of a major Hollywood studio in the 1960s, The Swimmer stars Burt Lancaster in one of the greatest performances of his career. When Ned Merrill sets out to swim home by crossing the backyard pools of his affluent Connecticut neighborhood, a carefree summer afternoon slowly gives way to something far darker, exposing the cracks beneath the polished surface of suburban America.
