Brooklyn Cinema Forum is a free community screening to discover films of the past and present that speak to the human condition. Free popcorn!
In Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, an aging television star discovers a black-market treatment that promises a more perfect version of herself. What begins as the ultimate act of reinvention becomes a vicious struggle between who she is and who she wishes she could become, bringing New Skin to its most literal—and grotesque—conclusion.
The Substance was released in the United States as a two-disc 4K UHD and Blu-ray edition on January 21, 2025. This screening will be presented in 4K.
Attendance and Popcorn is free. Donations are appreciated.
